Construction has begun!!!

Here it is...our very own heap of dirt and concrete!!! Isn't that exciting?!?!

As you can see, construction has officially begun on our new home. We got our final floorplan a few weeks ago, which was super exciting to see! The house is going to be just under 3000 sq. ft., which is larger than we originally thought. Anyway, they started grading about a week and a half ago, and put in the footers last week. They said they should have it framed in a few weeks! It's crazy how quickly it goes in the beginning. Apparently our 180 day guaranteed finish date begins when they break ground, so it should be done no later then mid-July!

Above you can see the footers on the left side of the photo. This is approximately where the door from the kitchen onto the back porch will be.

This intersection of concrete is where the garage connects to the side of the house. So the dirt in the middle there is where the main body of the house will be. The concrete was still curing when we were out there a few days ago, so I doubt we will see a whole lot get done this week as far as the foundation goes.

In the center of the picture below is the footer that will be the left-hand side of the garage. You can use the visual reference of that tall leafless tree in the background to give you an idea of how far out the house will extend. Our front porches will be about there. The house is not nearly as deep as it is long, much like our neighbors' house in the background.

Also, we got to meet our new neighbors, James and Stephanie, and they are really nice, super-cool people. They actually have a son about Anna's age and are expecting a baby as well, so we should have neighbors with kids the same age as ours! That's really exciting!
