Greene Family Reunion: Day 1

We're back! We had such a great time this last weekend "doin' the family thing" at Myrtle Beach with Steven's family.
For those of you that are confused as to why it isn't a Dunham family reunion, that is because Steven's grandmother Hope's maiden name was Greene, and the common denominator in all the visiting family is that they are of Greene descent in some way--or married to someone of Greene descent--as with me.
The first question I have gotten thus far about our trip is about the weather. While definitely intense, the bad weather came and left so fast you would have never known anything had happened. Even though the Weather Channel said the eye passed over somewhere else, I can distinctly remember waking up once and hearing howling wind, waking up again and hearing nothing, then waking up a third time to howling winds again. So, I'm pretty sure the eye passed over where we were staying. All in all, it's a cool experience to have had and a good story to tell.

Anyway, we arrived on Friday afternoon. Here are a few pictures of our villa.
The front door...

The awesome back porch. We didn't stay long
enough to really utilize this, but it was great nonetheless.

We went out to the greatest steakhouse EVER our first night in Myrtle Beach. It was called Barron's, and it was off the chain. There was no one in the restaurant since the 60 mph winds were picking up as we came. From the left is me (Steven's wife), Steven, Johnny (Steven's second cousin), Big John (Steven's second cousin's dad), Chuck (Steven's dad), Eunice (Steven's great-aunt), Hope (Steven's grandmother), Deborah (Steven's mom), and Jonathan (Steven's youngest brother---he's single, ladies). Confused yet? ;)
It was a great time. We will definitely have to go back there next year.

Johnny (in the orange shirt) paid for this spectacular meal. Thanks so much! I think we all agreed it was one of the best places ever!

I have to give a HUGE thank you to Jessica and Rachel Robbins, who were kind enough to come stay with us and watch our kids free of charge so I could go out and enjoy these dinners. You guys are such a blessing, thank you for serving our family in such an amazing way!!!

Also, thank you Chuck and Deborah for paying for half of the cost of our villa! We would not have been able to come if not for your generosity! You are amazingly kind and giving people! We are so blessed to have you!

To prove how much of a non-event the tropical storm was...here is a picture of the view from our back porch on Friday afternoon, before the storm.

And here it is on Saturday morning. You are correct--it looks exactly the same. No Armageddon here.

For GFR participants, I created an album on Photobucket where you can go to see/buy/save the pictures from our trip. Click here to go to the website. You can edit/purchase/save any pictures you like. I just uploaded them, so they are not cropped or edited in any way. To save them to your own computer, just right click on the photo you want and choose the "save picture as" feature which will prompt you to choose a place to save it. If this doesn't make sense, feel free to email or call me with any questions! Enjoy!
