Today

Now that we are finally settling into some semblance of a schedule with Chase, I have the opportunity to spend time in the morning playing outside with my girlies. Yes, it's pretty hot, but that's why morning is the optimal time to get them out to play. My girls love being outside. Even when they get all overheated and thirsty, they both still cry when I drag their dehydrated selves back in.

We started off with some off roadin' in the Jeep. Anna will go in circles until the battery dies, literally.

At some point (usually about halfway through the battery's life), Brooke gets pretty sick of going in circles and having her pancreas jostled to kingdom come. She then exits the vehicle and does what Brooke does best: wandering around occupying herself with various environmental oddities.

What struck her fancy on this particular day was the leaves falling off of our persimmon trees. In fact, she found them so interesting, she tried to eat them, which I would not allow since our persimmon trees are suffering from some sort of blight....I have yet to research what is causing that.

After both the car and the leaves were no longer interesting, we moved on to an activity that all persons under the age of a hundred enjoy: blowing bubbles. Below you can see how each of them participates---Anna by chasing them til the bitter end, and Brooke sticking close by to watch the whole procedure. They each then took turns blowing bubbles whilst Mommy judiciated.

We headed back inside when it was time to get up baby brother (as he is affectionately called) and have some lunch, followed by naptime. After nap, we did an indoor activity---it was 92 degrees outside at this point, hence the "indoor" adjectation. After having a healthy snack, we made *ahem* doughnuts. They really enjoyed it. "It" being making a huge mess with sprinkles. But anyway, I cut holes out of the middle of cheap canned biscuits, fried them up, dunked them in a Krispy Kreme-esque glaze, and then plopped them on the counter to be generously coated with sprinkles.

And, boy, were those doughnuts ever coated. In fact, pretty much everything else in the kitchen was coated with sprinkles as well. It took me longer to clean it up than it did to make the doughnuts. But we had a good time, so it was worth it.

And for your viewing pleasure, here is one of our lovely doughnuts.

Let's just say that bathtime was a necessity this evening.

So, there you have it...lots of fun on the homefront today. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!
